Nancy Smith Leggett

Nancy graduated from Cabarrus Memorial School of Nursing and went on to work 54 years in various nursing fields. She worked in doctor's offices, school nurse, public health, and many areas in between.

Her favorite hobby was reading books. She traveled all around this globe, experiencing other cultures. She loved nature and spent many hours hiking and camping. Later in her life she found jewelry-making as a great way to channel her artistic drive.

She loved her friends and family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gordon Shurtleff; her two children, Cyndi Leggett of Bolivia and Chuck Leggett and his wife Suzanne of Shallotte; a grandson, Zach Hendricks, of Pineville, North Carolina; and her brother, Clifford Smith, of Butner, North Carolina.

She is preceded in passing by her parents, Robert Lynn and Dayne Elizabeth Adams Smith; first husband, Charlie Leggett; and her brother, Robert Lynn Smith, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, NC PBS or any charity of your choice.

A private family celebration of remembrance will be held at a later date.
