She was a 1969 graduate of Walter M. Williams High School. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Kathy enjoyed socializing with her many friends, family and close cousins. She had a fantastic sense of humor, loved to laugh, and could never get enough Mexican food. Most of all, she loved to dance and would often tell of how she wore holes in her carpet growing up.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Richardson; parents, Benjamin Worrell and Catherine Baker. She is survived by her partner and very significant other of many years, David Sims; son, JJ Richardson and his significant other, Missy Bennett; son, Lonnie Richardson and his wife, Margie; daughter, Kelly Lonon and her husband, Jason; grandson, Logan Vines and his fiancée, Allyson Safrit; grandson, Cooper Richardson; granddaughters, Kendall Vines, Grey Richardson and Bailey Lonon; sister, Kim Horner; several nieces, a nephew, many members of the David Sims’ family who she considered her own family, and many beloved cousins who were like siblings to her.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Staci Sims for all of the hard work, dedication and love as Kathy’s primary caregiver over the past few years.
A memorial service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 1525 Flora Ave. Burlington, N.C. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 16. Flowers for the service may be sent to: 4315 Harvard Ave, Greensboro, N.C.
