It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nicholas Fanelli Sr., loving husband of Joyce (Degatana) Fanelli wish to announce his passing which occurred on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Bethesda Hospital. Born in Bronx, New York on September 22, 1937, he was the son of the late Frank and Jennie Fanelli. He married his love, Joyce, in 1963 and they started their family and his working career as a Toolmaker. He loved his time volunteering for the Kennilworth Volunteer Fire Department and was deeply involved in his community and family life.
In 1975, Nick and his family made the move from New Jersey to Ohio, where he worked for General Motors. Three years and two blizzards later, his strong leading lady, Joyce, requested warmer climates. It was in Florida that he began serving extensively and tirelessly in the Lions Club, for whom he served as President, District Governor and received multiple awards and distinctions, such as the Melvin Jone’s award.
Dad, Grandpa, Big Nick is survived by his wife, Joyce Fanelli, sons Frank and Nicholas Fanelli, grandsons Nicholas, Samuel, and James Fanelli, sisters Elizabeth Iannorone, Mary Werbicky, Linda Meros, and brother Michael Fanelli. Nick was also loved and will be missed by extended family and long-time friends.
