Lucy Somerville Hall died peacefully on March 8th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family in Boca Raton, FL, at the age of 86. Lucy was born to Henry and Mary Somerville on September 17, 1936, in Chicago, Ill. Lucy had five siblings and was predeceased by Charles, Eileen, Larry, and William. She is survived by her sister Marion McDevitt. Lucy also leaves behind six daughters, Patricia (Jim) Cowdery, Cathy (Paul) Linton, Nancy Hall, Janet (John) Pilgrim, Mary Beth Hall, and Eileen (Karl) Petersen.
Lucy's grandchildren include Stephen (April) Cowdery, Eileen Cowdery, John Linton, John (Chloe) Pilgrim, Marc, Grace and Evan Pilgrim, Craig (Taylor) Petersen, Jack, and Bridget Petersen.
Lucy's great-grandchildren include Mackenzie, John Richard Pilgrim, and Cora Cowdery.
Lucy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
After raising six daughters, Lucy graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1986. During her 15-year career, she worked in the adult spinal cord and general rehabilitation and then moved into management as an OT supervisor. She worked for five years as a Rehabilitation Director. Lucy was an active member of the Florida Occupational Therapy Association. Lucy was very well-liked by her staff.
Lucy was known for her patience, kindness, and easy demeanor. Lucy loved being with family and instilled the value of family, love, and kindness in her daughters. Lucy was an avid listener and kept up with all the events in her extended family. She was well-loved by all of her sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her many friends.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the best way to honor Lucy’s memory is to spend time enjoying family which was her greatest joy.
