Louis Robert Ellenbogen, aka “Beluga Lou”, Chef Lou, and Uncle Lou, beloved son, brother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Sunday 10/13/24. Louis was known to all as a man who loved his family first and foremost, cherished his extensive group of friends and was passionate about good food, fun and adventure. He is survived by his mother Barbara Ellenbogen, sister Jamie (Brad) Davis, brother Charlie (Margaret “Peggy”) Flenniken, sisters in law Lisa (Stephen) Sfarzo, Kathryn Daly, and nieces Shannon Ellenbogen (David James) Watkins, Emma Davis and Claire Billings and nephews Sean (Sofia) Timothy and Daniel Flenniken. He is pre-deceased by his Father, Philip Samuel Ellenbogen, and his brother Don Scott Ellenbogen.
Louis will be remembered as an accomplished self taught executive Chef, having spent his entire career in the hospitality industry. He helped open Nicks Fishmarket at the Boca Raton Resort and Club during his lengthy tenure there, and then went onto be executive chef at a number of popular establishments and country clubs in Florida. Louis will be remembered for his love of good food, fun at Disney and any adventure. He was the “head chef” for many fabulous Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins tailgate parties that will go down in the record books. He always brought his eternal “kid at heart spirit” to everything he did in life and every person he encountered. Services will be held on 10/27/24 at Palm Beach Memorial Park in Lantana Florida
