Lori Sue Deyo-Obler

Lori was born in Hudson, New York on January 12, 1957. She graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Health Administration from the University of Scranton. In 2015, Lori graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University where she earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy while continuing to work full-time. Lori married George Scott Obler in 1989 and moved to Boca Raton, Florida, where she made a loving home.

Lori’s great passion was her work in pediatric physical therapy. She spent her career treating and helping physically and mentally disabled children, which suited her giving and generous heart. Her devotion to the hundreds of patients she treated over 40 years is reflected in the lasting impact she left on the lives of the children and families with whom she worked.

Lori was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who rarely stood still. Blessed with creativity and a warm smile, it was easy for her to strike up a conversation with anyone around her. In addition to her work, she had a wide variety of interests, including growing and maintaining a thriving collection of orchids. She was also musically talented, proficient in playing the piano, drums, violin, and accordion. Most of all, she loved to laugh with her family and friends while sharing a good bottle of wine.

Lori’s friends and family will miss her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor, which brought joy to everyone around her. Her strength and bravery were evident in her willingness to face every challenge head-on and with a smile on her face. The difference she made in the lives of her friends, family, and patients, will carry her legacy forward.

Lori is survived by her parents, Russell and Norma Deyo; her husband, George Scott Obler, her two sons and one daughter, Luke, Caleb, and Madeline Obler; her sister, Amy McAllister; her nephew and niece, Max and Gabi McAllister; her uncle, Richard Deyo; and an army of friends she loved like family.

A celebration of her life will be held on January 11, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton, located at 625 NE Mizner Boulevard, Boca Raton, Florida.
