The woman who changed our dirty diapers, wiped our runny noses, and kissed our skinned knees passed away on January 29, 2023, and we are all better people because she was our Mother. Ann was born on October 13, 1933, in Houston, TX to Wilburn and Hazel Smith. She married Don Emery on July 2, 1955, in Petaluma, CA. She (and Dad) raised seven children, Bill, Jeanne, Mike, Greg, Rick, Mary, and Brian, first in San Jose, CA, and then in Boca Raton, FL (with a short stopover in Rochester, MN where her youngest was born). Mom was a Registered Nurse, and retired from Boca Raton Community Hospital (now Boca Raton Regional Hospital) in the mid-1990’s. She and Dad were married for 53 years when he died in 2008. In addition to her seven children, Ann is survived by her children’s spouses, Lisa (Mike) and Diane (Greg); her seven grandchildren and their spouses, Anastasia and Dat Tang, Catherine Zelios, Kaitlyn Emery, Jacob Emery, Kyle and Chelsea Emery, Ian Wiley, and Daniel Emery; and her great granddaughter, Grace Garris. She gave us life and she gave us love; we can only hope to be as loving as her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16th from 5-7 p.m. at Babione Kraeer Funeral Home, 1100 North Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL, 33432. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton.
