Albert Allen Berchiolli was born in Brooklyn, New York to Helen Summa and Arthur Berchiolli on the 19th day of December 1949. He had two brothers, Bobby, and Paul and five sisters, Jeanie, Patty, Shirley, Peggy, and Robin.
At the age of nineteen he joined the United States Armed Forces and served until April 1972. During his service he received several medals and commendations. He was stationed primarily in Korea and Germany.
In 1980, Albert (Allen) and Maryann Centauro got married; they recently celebrated their 44th Anniversary. Allen leaves behind his loving wife, Maryann, daughter Patricia, son-in-law Chris, granddaughters Karisa, Alexa, and Valentina. As well as his sisters Patty and Shirley, brother Paul and Maryann’s siblings and their families with whom he grew very close to and fond of over the last 44 years: Rosemarie (Jose), George (Liz), Patty, Richie (Rosa) and Barbara (Anthony). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, including his God son Anthony Rivera, and God daughter Nyree Miles.
Allen is pre-deceased by his parents, his stepmom, Solange, his mother in-law, and father in-law (Marie and George Centauro) his brother-in-law Vinnie Fontana (Patty’s husband), his brother Bobby and sisters Jeanie, Peggy, and Robin.
Allen was a life-long Yankee fan. He also loved playing baseball himself. Upon moving to Florida, he joined the Coral Springs Men’s Senior Baseball League and traveled with the team to Arizona where they won the 1990 World Series.
He also developed a keen interest in playing the guitar; he had a large collection of albums; he was particularly fond of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa, and Jeff Beck.
He was a great poker player and an excellent cook. Most recently he was babysitting for Valentina, which he graciously volunteered to do since she was just six months old to help his daughter and son-in-law out. Valentina will be turning two in July.
Allen loved attending family functions, picnics, birthday parties, kid’s sporting events, etc. He was always eager to help out where and whenever he could.
He worked many years in the construction field; he was a glass and glazing contractor. But, most recently he enjoyed his part-time job with Enterprise where he developed close friendships with his co-workers; he was working with them up until February of this year.
Allen will be deeply missed by many. He was a very caring and generous person
