William “Bill” Terrell, 81 of Bloomington died Sunday, May 17, 2015 in his home with his family at his side. He was born July 8, 1933 in Bloomington to Lloyd Terrell and Edith Chestnut Terrell. Bill was retired from Detroit Diesel Allison where he had been a high voltage electrician before becoming supervisor of the power plant. Bill was an active member of StoneRidge Baptist Church in Bloomington and had been extremely active with the Bible Believers Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL and with life long work in various churches had attained a Doctorate of Divinity. As an Air Force Veteran, Bill served in Korea during the Korean War as a Master air traffic controller. Other hobbies and interests included hunting, being a private pilot, he was a motorcycle and classic car enthusiast, owned and operated a TV and electronics repair shop, coached little league baseball, graduated in 1951 from Bloomington High School where he was on the wrestling and baseball teams. On December 23, 1954 Bill married Carol Sue Hamm and they remained married until her death on April 9th of this year.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Terrell and his wife Sheryl of Danville, IN, Jeff Terrell of Bloomington and Brian Terrell of Lakeland, FL; four grandchildren, Morgan Terrell, Madalyn Terrell, Luke Terrell and Marissa Terrell all of Danville, IN; a brother, James Terrell and his wife Betty of Martinsville; a sister-in-law, Katheryn Terrell of Martinsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, William Hamm; and a brother, Donald Terrell.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:30 AM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St, Bloomington. Burial will follow in Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville with Military Honors. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
