Tyriq David (Tammi Monique) Bridgwaters, age 23, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 in Bloomington. Born January 5, 2000, he was the son of Nicholas Brown and Taryn Monique Bridgwaters. Tyriq was employed at the Taco Bell on W. Third St. He attended BHS North and graduated from Dulaney High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Tyriq was an athlete, participating in shot put and discus where he won the AAU Junior Olympics Championship and won multiple competitions across the United States. He also played basketball in Middle School and Freshman year at North High School. In 2018 he earned the Unsung Hero Award for bringing his team to victory in the Mock Trial competition. He was baptized at Trinity UAME Church, in Media PA, as an infant and again at City Church in Bloomington as an adult. Tyriq loved music and was musically and poetically talented. He composed and spoke several rapp pieces that appear on You Tube and Tik Tok.
Tyriq is survived by his adopted sister, Gia Bridgwaters and two adopted brothers, Tevin and Preston Bridgwaters, all of Ellettsville; paternal grandmother, Anita Foster, of Greenwood, IN; one uncle, Michael (Kate Grimes) Bridgwaters, of Ellettsville; two aunts, Renee (Vernon) Bridgwaters-Carter, of Bloomington and Angela Lynn (Kermit) Bridgwaters-Billups, of Lutherville MD; six great-great aunts, Vivian Bridgwaters-Gray, Elizabeth A. Bridgwaters, Janice Leonard, all of Bloomington and Judith Deayon, of Los Angeles, CA, Linda (Joe) Ridley, of Willis, TX and Connie Wade, of Chicago, Ill; three great-uncles, David Bridgwaters, Seth Debro, and Albert (Lori) Bridgwaters, all of Bloomington; two great-great-uncles, Richard(Lydia) and Ollie (Eliza) Bridgwaters, both of San Antonio, TX; close cousins, Christopher Bridgwaters, of Bloomington, Damion Bridgwaters, of Hialeah FL, Anthony (Victoria) Bridgwaters, Isaiah Bridgwaters, Alexis Bridgwaters, Khalia Bridgwaters, Alauna Bridgwaters, Lilly Grimes, Cashis Bridgwaters, Royce Bridgwaters and Jillian Ladyman, all of Bloomington; as well as many other loved uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, David Preston and Mary Maxine Bridgwaters, and maternal grandmother, Tamula Ann Bridgwaters, and great aunt, Cherron Bridgwaters-Waters.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home. Interment will follow in White Oak Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
