Samuel Oren Patton, age 88, of Bloomington passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. Born April16, 1933 in Bedford, Indiana, he was the son of Enoch and Gertie (New) Patton. Samuel was a U.S Army Korean War veteran and worked as a carpenter. He was of the Pentecostal faith, enjoyed being a minister, visiting with the residents at the Hospitality House and in the hospital, helping others worship God, playing the harmonica and doing a multitude of carpentry projects.
Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Ellouise (Robertson) Patton, of Bloomington; four children, Debbie (Tim) Daggy, of Bloomington, Cindy Sherfield, of Bloomington, Billy (Shauna) Patton, of Arizona and Tony Patton, of Bloomington, one grandson, Matt (Savannah) Sherfield, one great-grandson, Max Sherfield and five brothers; Donald Patton, Clifford Patton, George Patton, Ronald Patton and Keith Patton.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Jennifer J. Patton and Jordan A. Sherfield, three sisters and two brothers.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Greene County Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow the services.
