Nancy Marguerite (McDonald) Smith, 89, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013. She was born February 28, 1924 in Ethel, IN located in Rural Orange County; she was the daughter of the late David and Emma McDonald.
Nancy worked at Traveler Radio Company and the Martin Restaurant in Orleans, Indiana. She worked as a clerk at the Kirkwood Pharmacy in Bloomington where she retired. She was a homemaker, a mother and a Cub Scout den mother. Her interests were in her family and her grandchildren. She was an avid Pacer and IU basketball fan and loved spending time with her friends from the Kirkwood Pharmacy. She belonged to the Orleans Christian Church and the First Christian Church in Bloomington.
Nancy is survived by her son, Don Smith and special friend Ruth Neill of Bloomington; her daughter, Bonnie and son-in-law Dennis Barrow of Zionsville; sister-in-law, Eldee McDonald; a grandson, Michael Barrow and his wife Rhonda; a granddaughter, Angela Barrow; and many other beloved family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donovan Eugene Smith; seven siblings, Ruby Gerkin, Flourine, Carrie, Donald, Farrel, Hugh, and Ronald McDonald.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel, officiated by Rev. Eric Simpson. Interment will follow at Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel.
