Nancy Lee Huffman, age 88, of Solsberry, Indiana, passed away Sunday morning, March 31, 2024 at Majestic Care in Bloomington. She was born April 15, 1935 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Fredrick and Margaret (James) Harbin.
Nancy was a member of the Cincinnati Christian Church near Bloomfield and in her later years attended Solsberry Christian Church. At Cincinnati Christian Church, she was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and the HEARTS organization. She retired from Fairview Elementary School in Bloomington as an elementary school teacher. She also worked for many years for Congressman Lee Hamilton.
Nancy loved animals; especially her cat, Bright Eyes. She enjoyed sending cards and notes to family and friends, traveling and flowers, especially yellow flowers. She had an adventurous spirit, she flew in an open cockpit plane, bungee jumped and zip-lined to name a few fun things she did in her senior years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her two nephews; Jim Harbin and his wife, Shari and David Harbin; close friends, Ron and Melody Carter and two great-nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Fredrick Harbin, Jr. and James Harbin.
Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Solsberry Christian Church, officiated by her dear friend, Ron Carter.
