Joseph M. Parrott, Sr, age 87, of Bloomington passed away Friday afternoon, January 6, 2023, surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. He was born April 2, 1935, in Bloomington to the late John G. and Annabelle (Elliott) Parrott. He was a lifelong resident of Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington High School, class of 1954. He was drafted in 1954 into the Army where he served in Germany. He returned from service to Coca-Cola in Bloomington and worked as a route driver, route manager and special event manager until his retirement after 47 years with the company. He made many friends and knew lots of people during his time with Coca-Cola. In 1957 he married Janet Sue Patterson, and they enjoyed 63 years together before her passing in 2020. Their focus was on family, and they attended almost every game, dance competition, graduation and special event of their kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
He was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Bloomington. He was a member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge #22 in Bloomington, Bloomington York Rite and the Stonebelt Shrine Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Prior (Lary) of Bargersville, his son Joe, Jr of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Jacob Parrott (Melissa), Brandi Dillard (Clayton), Jill Barber (Rob), Jordan Parrott and Jay Prior (Sarah) and five great-grandchildren, Robbie Barber, Cooper Dillard, Clara Dillard, Jett Barber and Annabelle Parrott. His sister-in-law Liz Parrott and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles Parrott, and daughter-in-law Linda Parrott.
Pastor Kyrmen Rea will conduct a funeral service on Friday, January 20, 2023, at noon at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street, Bloomington. Friends may call on January 19, 2023, from 5-8 at the funeral home and from 11 until time of service on Friday. Entombment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Shriners Hospital or First Christian Church in Bloomington.
