Nécrologie de Janet Ellen Snyder
Janet Ellen Snyder, passed away on Tuesday, November 20th, 2024, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Despite a multitude of ailments starting at a young age, she bravely bounced back against the odds until now, with strength and a sense of humor. She actually enjoyed going to the doctor but hated needles. Born on February 7th, 1940, in Lena, Indiana, the oldest of 5 children, Jan, grew up on the family farm working at an early age and early in the morning with her brothers and sister. After high school she left, welcoming the opportunity to work in the big city of Indianapolis as a bookkeeper, first at an office supply store and later in the family business, City Glass in Bloomington, Indiana. She loved telling people that she was retired, having retired at the ripe age of 33 which allowed her time to devote to art, baking cookies, landscaping and amazing hair. She created a beautiful environment for her family, which she spoiled. She was an accomplished painter, stained glass artist, teddy bear maker and greeting card crafter. Friends, family and neighbors were often the recipients of her crafts and baked goods. She was also an active member of TOPS. She enjoyed eating out, shopping, bowling, playing cards with friends and going to the casino (she was very lucky). She had an unusual taste in funny songs and TV shows like Swamp People and Xena Warrior Princess. After her husband passed, she moved to Evergreen Assisted Living that provided excellent care. The staff was struck by her wonderful sense of humor and her artistic eye. She was a rare bird. We are heartbroken. Jan is survived by her son, Don Snyder, Jr., daughter-in-law Allison Jarmon both of Parkland, Florida, her daughter, Susan Snyder, son-in-law Stefano Fiorini both of Bloomington; grandsons, Marco Fiorini, Benjamin, and Alex Snyder; three brothers, Thomas (Carol) Parker, Larry (Marilyn) Parker, and Fred (Janice) Parker; and her sister, Mary Ann Trackwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Snyder, parents Thomas David and Inez Eileen (Morlan) Parker, nephews Daniel Snyder, Roger Snyder and Tim Trackwell and nieces Cathy Parker and Loretta Froedge. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 2:30 p.m. at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The family welcomes friends to visit from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Online condolences may be shared at www.DayDeremiahFrye.com
