“To the world you are a dad. To our family you are the world.” - Unknown It is with loving thoughts and memories that the family of Don Edward Moulden announces his passing. Don was born November 1, 1925 in Bloomington, IN, the son of Thelma (Godsey) and Guy Edward Moulden. He grew up in Bloomington, IN and graduated from Bloomington High School. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and was deployed in Europe during World War II. After being injured in combat, Don received a Purple Heart before returning to the front, where he was injured once again, earning a second Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his bravery and commitment to his country. During retirement, Don actively participated in programs where he shared his experiences in World War II with school children of Bloomington. Upon being honorably discharged from the military and spending a year in a military hospital, Don returned to Bloomington where he worked at Benavole Lincoln-Mercury while starting a family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Louise ‘Pat’ (Litten) Moulden. He is survived by 3 sons: Bruce Moulden of Bloomington, IN, his wife Mary Anne, and their children Jonathon and Jennifer; Brian Moulden of Noblesville, IN, his wife Susann, and their children Madelyn and Meredith; Bradley Moulden of Louisville, KY, his wife Kathy, and their children Brittany, Chelsea, Carly, and Brandon. He is also survived by a brother, Dean Moulden of Bloomington IN, his wife Sue, along with many nieces and nephews, and three great-grandsons: Oliver, Isaac, and Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mac Moulden, and two children, Carolyn Beth Perkins and Brent ‘Andy’ Moulden. He is survived by Beth’s husband, David Perkins of Whiteland, IN, and their children Emily, Joshua, Andrew, and Zachary. He is also survived by Andy’s children, Shelby and Spencer Moulden. Don was never happier than when he was surrounded by friends and family, when he would sit back and reflect with a smile: “Can you believe Pat and I started all of this?” Visitation will be held at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana 47401, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm Friday February 15, 2019. A Celebration Mass, officiated by Fr. Tom Kovatch, will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Bloomington at 11:00am Saturday February 16, 2019 with internment following at Valhalla Memory Gardens with military honors performed by the Monroe County Honor Guard and the U.S.Army. Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to the Scholarship Fund at St. Charles School or the American Legion.
