Clay Hobert Carter Jr.

Clay Hobert Carter Jr., passed away peacefully at home on October 5th, 2022. Clay was born in Clemmons, North Carolina on April 4th, 1930, to Clay H. Carter Sr. and Carola Carter. Surviving family include his son, Clay (Julie) Carter III; his daughter, Ria Carter; his sister, Barbary Perry; grandchildren, Kevin Carter, Kyle May, Matthew (Lindsey) May, Amelia (Jesse) McCune, Natasha (Jared) Meadows, Erin Carter, and Clay Carter IV; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Anderson-Carter; and seven siblings. He and his wife Ruth, raised their family in Bloomington, IN. Clay retired after many years of working for IU. He was also a member of North Central Church of Christ. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022, from 9am to 11am followed by a funeral service at 12:30pm at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home (4150 E. 3rd St. Bloomington, IN 47401) with Pastor Kim Norris of City Church For All Nations officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens at 1:30pm. The family requests that donations may be made to Healing Hands Outreach Center at healinghandsbloomington.org.
