Charles M. “Charlie” Butcher, age 72, of Bloomington, died Tuesday morning at Bell Trace Health and Living Center in Bloomington. Born December 25, 1938 in Bloomington, he was the son of Hollis and Mildred Irene (Robinson) Butcher. He was a 1956 graduate of Bloomington High School. He began his career working at Westinghouse Corporation and later retired from Crane N.W.S.C. after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and enjoyed watching IU basketball, the Indianapolis Colts, and attending car shows.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judie (Robertson) Butcher, of Bloomington; one daughter, Stephanie Stewart, of Bloomington; one granddaughter, Taylor Stewart; two grandsons, Jackson Stewart and Andrew Wilson; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Sharon Butcher, of Bloomington; two nieces, Jessica Durnal (Matt), of Bloomington and Kelsey Butcher, of Huntington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Scott Butcher.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastor Frank VanAllen officiating. Burial will follow in Covenanter Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church.
