Carole Carl Newcomb

Carole Anne Carl Newcomb, 83, passed away on October 2, 2018 in I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Carole was the second eldest of six children born to Henry and Aline(Sander)Carl in Evansville, Indiana.

After graduating from F.J. Reitz high School in Evansville, she married the love of her life Harry W. Newcomb in 1954. Their marriage produced two children; Kevin Richard Newcomb and Brian David Newcomb. After Harry’s untimely death in 1971, she graduated with a nursing degree from Ivy Tech in Bloomington in 1973, working for the American Red Cross for many years before retiring. After retiring, Carole volunteered at I.U. Health Hospital, devoting 20 years of her time to patients and staff.

Carole’s lifelong passion was music and singing her favorite expression, from barber shop quartets to church choirs. She loved it all.

Carole is survived by her son Brian Newcomb, her three brothers and their wives; Richard “Dick” (Judy) Carl, David (Teri) Carl Robert “Butch” (Rhonda) Carl and her sister and brother-in-law Debbie (Mike) Wolf and sister-in-law Betty Newcomb.

She was preceded in death by her son Kevin Newcomb in 2016, her sister Judy West and brother-in-law Col. Charles Newcomb.

Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401 is entrusted with arrangements. A Celebration of Life for Carole will be held at a later date.
