Richard R. Hardesty, 72, of Danville, passed away at 12:22 p.m. on Saturday October 2, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
He was born March 15, 1938 in Danville, IL the son of John and Mildred Hanover Hardesty. He married Carol Boggs April 10, 1989 in Lincoln IL. She survives him.
Richard is also survived by two stepsons; Michael Boggs and George Kinsel Jr. and one step daughter Joy Edwards. Also surviving are two step grandsons Alan and Dwane Edwards; two sisters Nancy (Richard) Shultz and Betty (Ken) Oswald; and one Aunt Mary Hanover.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Harold Hardesty.
Richard was a Oakwood High School graduate after graduation he served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After returning he enjoyed a long career working for the City of Bloomington in the Parks and Recreations and Sewer departments before retiring in 2000.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #210 in Danville and was an avid wrestling fan and loved his animals Bear and Kitty Cat.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday October 5, 2010 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Visitation will take place two and a half hours prior to services also at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Burial will take place immediately following services at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington.
