Norman Richard, 86, of Normal, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family. Norman was born on April 28, 1937, in Normal to John and Stella (Kerr) Richard. He married Delores (Dee) Hanover on March 14, 1958.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Delores; daughter, Karen (James) Rettick, Bloomington; son, Brian (Lisa) Richard, Summerville, SC; grandson, Matthew (Jackie) Rettick, Bloomington; granddaughter, Sara (Chris) Kerber, Bloomington; grandson, Dylan Richard, Summerville, SC; great-grandchildren, Evalynn, Bryant, and Landry Rettick; step great-grandchildren, Isabella and Daniel Kerber; brothers, Ray Richard, Towanda and Charles Richard, Lakeland, FL; and sisters, Joan Perkins, Gibson City and Cleda (Bruce) Lee, Pontiac. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Don, John, Robert, and Joe Richard; and his sister, Dorothy Sanders.
Norman worked as an Allis Chalmers farm implement service technician, a semi-truck driver, and helped manufacture English wheeling machines. He also served as Fire Chief on the Towanda Volunteer Fire Department and was Towanda Township Road Commissioner. Norman was always ready to help his family, friends, and neighbors. In his free time, Norman enjoyed working in his garden, fixing lawnmowers, watching NASCAR races, and cheering on Duke men’s basketball.
Memorial services for Norman will be on Friday, February 23, 2024, at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. Pastor Jack Moody will be officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
