Lois was born to Roger and Adelaide Cerwick on July 26th, 1942, in Estherville, Iowa. She had two younger sisters, Judy and Kathy, with whom she had an especially strong and loving relationship. Lois graduated from Estherville High School in 1960 and was united in marriage with Jerry Oster on April 16, 1966, in Minneapolis, MN. Together they had two children, Mark and Ann. Lois’ husband, Jerry, preceded her in death in 2016, just short of their 50th anniversary.
Lois was a devoted mother and homemaker; her commitment to her family was unwavering. Her family was her greatest treasure and she worked tirelessly in support of it. She was, by nature, fiercely loyal and would do anything for those she loved. For nearly 25 years, Lois also took on a multitude of roles in support of Jerry’s consulting company.
Lois found solace in her strong faith in God. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny, Iowa, until her illness prevented her from attending. She took great pleasure from helping to teach preschool children at the church for many years. She cherished the many relationships she formed there.
Besides being with her family, Lois’s favorite place on earth was Sanibel Island, Florida. She loved to spend endless hours slowly sauntering up and down the beach, stooped over in an effort to find any kind of ocean treasure. She found immense pleasure in making these little discoveries and, even more, she loved sharing them with others. Sanibel was where Lois came to life and where the sparkle in her eye shone the brightest. This is how we will forever remember our beloved Lois.
Lois is survived by her sister Judy (John) of Ankeny, IA; her sister Kathy (Ron) of Maple Grove, MN; her son Mark (Lisa) of Jacksonville, FL; her daughter Ann (Dan) of Bloomington, IL; her grandchildren Evan and Oliver and by many other incredible friends and family. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Adelaide, and her husband Jerry.
Due to COVID considerations, there is no plan for an in-person ceremony or visitation in the near term.
In remembrance of Lois’ life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
