Linda Meeker Flotkoetter, 73, of Roanoke, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 surrounded by her children. She was born on August 7, 1949 at Carle-BroMenn Medical Hospital in Normal, Illinois to Warren and Lorene Meeker. Linda was a loved and respected mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, and friend to all that knew her. Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marcia Meeker Adams.
Linda attended Thomas Metcalf School and University High School (class of ‘67) in Normal, Illinois. As an adult, Linda was best known for her home daycare service in Bloomington, IL where she raised children to love Jesus, tend a garden, and know that they are valued and loved. Linda had the heart of a rescuer. She spent much of her time volunteering in the local animal shelters, rescuing and rehabilitating animals to find them loving homes. She spent just as much time volunteering at her local church, tending to the grounds, rocking babies in the nursery, and helping lost souls find their purpose in Jesus Christ, her savior.
Linda was well known for her wonderful cooking and for her outstanding sewing skills. She could usually be found in the kitchen, preparing meals for her family and friends. She was always quick to bring a meal to families that needed encouragement or a plateful of cookies or apple pie to cheer up her neighbors at holidays. She also loved to make baby blankets for her grandchildren and even made both of her daughter’s prom dresses. Her family could always count on her to lend a helping hand and her friends often commented on her generous spirit and her wonderful way with children. Linda was mostly known for her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and did all that she could to show everyone the love of Christ that was in her heart.
Linda married her former husband, Jerome Lawrence Flotkoetter and they had three children together: Michael Jerome, Andrea Rachel, and Brooke Lorene. They raised their children together in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.
