Gary Leon Pauley

Gary L. Pauley, 75, of Normal, passed away at 9:12 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Heartland Healthcare Services in Normal.

He was born November 5, 1935 in Hays, Kansas, son of Kenneth N. and Ruth L. Leighty Pauley. He married Joy “Jodi” Miller Sutter on December 11, 1976.

Surviving are his wife of Normal; three sons, Dr. Michael (Terri) Pauley of Bloomington, Kevin (Lisa) Pauley of Mahomet and Dr. Scott (Cindy) Pauley of Rochester, MN and one step-son, Kenneth (Karen) Sutter of Hudson. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Mitchell, Morgan, Mason, Bethany, Sarah, Carissa, Kenneth, Grace, Benjamin, Rachel, Christina and Nicole Pauley and Matthew and Nicholas Sutter and one great-grandson, Hayden Sutter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Le Vonne Ives.

Gary was a United States Army Veteran.

He is a 1953 graduate from Stockton High School in Stockton, KS. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Fort Hays University in 1957 and a Juris Doctorate from Washburn University in Topeka, KS in 1961. He joined State Farm as a Field Claims Representative in Topeka, KS in 1961 and in 1964, he moved to the State Farm Corporate Law Department in Bloomington. He retired in 1994 as Associate General Counsel.

Gary was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. The Rev. Vaughn Hoffman will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bloomington.
