A poem in memory of my uncle Jose Francisco Mendoza, mi tio Paco.
His hugs full of love, gentle, soft like a warm September breeze, a man who was strong like the bark on the mighty sequoia trees. A man who always had a beautiful white smile painted on his face, anyone who knew him knew that they could find refuge and comfort within his welcoming embrace, a noble man who was genuine and truthful all the time. A noble man who happily offered the best of advice and when asked to help with a favor never thought of it twice. A man who could light up rooms with laughter and cheer over the years who was there through thick and thin with a shoulder for those who felt like shedding tears. A man who was always happy who never carried a frown no matter how life treated him it never kept him down. A loving husband yes he was he loved his wife very much, a loving father a loving son who was so proud of who his children had become and as a son there is no doubt he has made his mother extremely proud as a brother I am sure my mother could agree he would cross oceans, rivers and mountains in times of desperate need. A grandfather who adored his grandchildren and found happiness in their company. As an uncle even the blindest of men could see that all around he was the best we know his advice always came from deep within his chest. As a brother-in-law my father saw he not only had found a great friend but someone who he knew offered the friendliest helping hands. So lets remember him for who he was when we feel that warm September breeze a beautiful son of God who is finally laid to rest in the eternal peace.
