Gary was well known in the Food Industry throughout the Southeast. He began his career with Bruno's while a senior at Hueytown High School. From there he moved into the food brokerage business where he worked with Phillips Brokerage Company. Later he would form a partnership with Miller, Stabler and Smith Brokerage until his retirement. During his career, Gary was recognized for his accomplishments receiving numerous awards which included local, state and national accolades.
His love of food was well known to all that knew Gary. One of his biggest loves was spending time in his kitchen, (which he designed) cooking for family and friends. His favorite times were when he was cooking for his grandchildren. We all will miss his cooking, especially his BBQ and Wing sauce.
Gary was a member of Mountaintop Community Church. There he formed a special bond with Doctor Bill Elder and his wife Linda that lasted until his passing. Our family wishes to express their deepest appreciation, gratitude and love for Bill and Linda and their family.
A private celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 for his family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in honor of Gary.
