A Birmingham native and lifelong resident, Morris was born on January 26, 1951. He was a graduate from Jones Valley High School and Troy State University in 1977. Working primarily at SouthTrust and Synovus Banks, he built a successful forty-year career, specializing in commercial real estate lending. Positive, upbeat with a wonderful sense of humor, Morris was popular with customers and co-workers alike, quietly mentoring scores of young people over the years. Intrigued by people and their life stories, Andy loved nothing more than entertaining a group of friends at his Lake Martin home. Without guests, he was known to continue socializing, sitting on his pier, waving at passing boats. Devoted, loving, protective, the center of Morris' life was, first and foremost, family, his treasured wife of 43 years, Beth, children, Blake, Paige (son in law Brian) and their three-year-old son, Parks. A man of great faith, Morris trusted in God for guidance. Caring and sensitive, his conversation with a lawn boy was as heartfelt and respectful as those with bank CEOs and large companies.
Morris is survived by wife Beth, son, Blake (Atlanta), daughter, Paige Morris Miller husband, Brian and son Parks, his sister Rena Morris Lyle in Birmingham. The family is deeply appreciative for the professional and personal care of Dr. Laura Skorr, Emory University Hospital and Elizabeth Dickey, RN, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Birmingham.
