Shirley Strickland, age 84, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away at home on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 3:45 AM, while surrounded by family and friends. Shirley was born December 31, 1935. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Floy Whitfield; Husband, W.B. Strickland, Jr.; son, W.B. Strickland, III and brother, J.D. Whitfield. She is survived by her son, Stephen G. Strickland; brother, John W. Whitfield and nieces and nephews. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother who loved cooking, gardening and taking care of family and home
A visitation for Shirley will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave S.W. Birmingham, AL 35211 with a graveside service and burial following Friday, July 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211.
