Wilson, Mrs. Sarah Louise Nabors “Nana”, age 97, passed away on January 28, 2024. She was born on November 15th, 1926, in Birmingham, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer Dennis Nabors and Clarice Vermelle Hollis Nabors, her sister Mary Patricia Nabors Westerhouse, and her oldest son, Frank Leroy Wilson, Jr.
Sarah was a 1944 graduate of Minor High School, Birmingham, AL where she was a member of the National Honor Society and valedictorian of her graduating class.
She was a charter member of Baptist Church of the Covenant, Birmingham, AL, where she also served as church secretary for many years, was ordained as a Deacon, and sang in the church choir. She was involved in the formation and early administration of both the Alliance of Baptists and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
She is survived by her three children Dennis Nabors (Faye Tisdale) Wilson; Jeanette Wilson (Michael) Mizerany; and David Brian Wilson, all of Birmingham, AL, and her daughter-in-law Janie Wagner Wilson, Madison, AL. Her grandchildren also survive: Christine Marie Wilson (Cleveland) Bosher, Marietta, GA; Joseph Dennis Wilson, Manhattan Beach, CA; Patrick Michael (Dr. Kristin Flowers) Mizerany; John Bradley (Sydnie Irwin) Mizerany; and Christopher David (Amanda McCluskey) Mizerany, all of Birmingham, AL.; Matthew Edwin (Sarah) Wagner, Madison, AL. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Kinsey Marie Bosher and Kayla Grace Bosher, Marietta, GA; Michael Clinton Mizerany and Sarah Grace Mizerany; Tristan Tyler Robbins; Amelia Taylor Mizerany, all of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by her sister Lyra Nabors (Rev. E Donald) Crapps of Troy, AL, niece Wendy Westerhouse of Talladega, AL, nephews Wayne (Judy) Westerhouse of Huntsville, AL and Warren (Robin) Westerhouse of Birmingham, AL and several great nieces and great nephews.
Final arrangements will be handled by Johns-Ridout’s Southside Chapel. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Baptist Church of the Covenant, 2117 University Boulevard, Birmingham, AL, with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Baptist Church of the Covenant, 2117 University Boulevard, Birmingham, AL 35233.
The family is deeply grateful for the care she received from the staffs at both Greenbriar at the Altamont and New Beacon Hospice.
