Sandra A Bearden

Sandra Amelia Bearden, age 88 passed away Monday, September 25,2023 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bearden Jr.; and her parents, Margaret Farley Pirtle and Ferdinand W. Pirtle. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ann Sutton; son-in-law, Keith Sutton; granddaughters, Jordan Sutton and Evan Sutton Carter and Evan’s husband Matt Carter. Mrs. Bearden received an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree with honors from the University of Alabama. After working as a writer for the news she held jobs as a college professor at Samford University, South Central Bell as an editor, and a freelance writer. Her church family has always been important to her, and she has been an active member of First Baptist Church in Trussville for the past 44 years. She was an avid reader and volunteered regularly at the Library in Trussville. Other interests include travel and writing. She has several published pieces to her credit. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 28 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Visitation will begin at 12 pm with the funeral beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Trussville.
