Sally was born July 6th, 1939 in Clanton, Alabama to Clarence and Ruth Benson.
She was an amazing woman with a servant's heart. She deeply loved God and family, and
dedicated her life to serving others. She worked at Lakeside Baptist Church in the Mothers-Day
Out program for over twenty years. Sally loved children and children were drawn to Sally
because of her sweet, sweet spirit and kind and gentle heart. Sally graduated from Ensley High School, class of 1957. Sally soon married Charles Ellis Etheridge III, on November 8th, 1958, the love of her life. Together they had three sons, Charles Clarence Etheridge, Ellis Van Etheridge and Chad Allen Etheridge.
She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Sylvester Benson; mother Ruth Benson,
husband Charles Ellis Etheridge, brother Billy Benson, and sister Betty Williams.
Sally is survived by her brother Terry (Patty) Benson; son Charles Etheridge and his wife Christine and their children: Logan (Kristen), Candice (Blane) and Gabriel; son Ellis Van Etheridge and his wife Melissa and their children: Kirsten, Griffin and Skyler; son Chad Allen Etheridge and his wife Leigh and their children: Shiloh and Zade; 5 great grandchildren: Colton, Carson, Caroline, Benson and Belle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Harrington officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Logan Etheridge, Gabriel Etheridge, Griffin Etheridge, Skyler Etheridge, Blane Glover, and Scott Perkins.
