Mr. Rudolph Noble McMurray, Jr., of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born in Heflin, Alabama on March 13, 1931. He is survived by his children Alynn McMurray LeBerte (Peter), Elizabeth McMurray David (Hal), Daniel Harrington McMurray (Melissa); grandchildren, Matthew Brian LeBerte (Jessica), Shelley LeBerte Richardson (Mark), Tarlie David Fails (Jeremy), Haley David Crosby (Joshua), Collins Virginia McMurray, Jack Harrington McMurray, Daniel Hamilton McMurray (Hamp); great grandchildren, Catalina Rose LeBerte, Miles Vincent LeBerte, and Alexandra Elise (Lexie) Richardson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sandra Wilson McMurray, father, Rudolph Noble McMurray, Sr.; his mother, Sara Elizabeth Peace McMurray; brother, Bobby Peace McMurray. Rudy served in the United States Army as a paratrooper and was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of First Lieutenant. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in accounting. Over the course of his career, he worked for Shell Oil Company, Harris Transfer Company, Shaw Warehouse Company, and Southern Research Institute. Rudy was a faithful member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church for over 45 years. He served as a deacon, treasurer, and was a Sunday School teacher. He went on several mission trips. He loved his family, the beach, the outdoors, playing bridge, reading and was an avid golfer. Visitation will be at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am with a Memorial Service to follow. Flowers are always appreciated or memorials can be made to the Permanent Endowment Fund at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church.
