Robert Williamson Jennings Sr.

Robert Williamson Jennings Sr., age 90, joined his loved ones in Heaven on May 22, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother (Nell W.), his father (William K.), his brother (William K. Jr.) his sister Bernice J. Turner, his son Robert W. Jr, and his beloved wife of 67 years, Charlene (Boots) A. Jennings. He is survived by his sons Charles R. and Barry K., his daughter Jan Lalor (Rick), daughter in law Sally as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert was born in Homewood, Alabama and after attending Riverside Military Academy and graduating from Ramsay High, he attended Auburn University and Birmingham Southern College graduating in 1954. Robert was a member of Kappa Alpha Order while in college.

Following college, he served two years in Frankfurt Germany as a special agent in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps and then began 43 years of service with U.S. Pipe and Foundry Co., retiring in 1998 as Director of International Sales.

As a born again Christian, he was involved in many domestic and foreign mission projects as well as serving in many charity and civic organizations. Bob was a long-time member of the Loving Sunday School Class of Lakeside Baptist Church.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 1:00-2:00pm at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW with a private burial service to follow at 2:00pm in Elmwood Cemetery.

A Daily Prayer:

Strengthen me this day, O Lord For all that lies ahead. Keep me in Your care always And grant my daily bread. Instruct me in Your paths As I put my trust in You. Show Your love through all I say And everything I do. Forgive me in Your mercy Whenever I am wrong. Wash my heart of sin and guilt And make my spirit strong. make me glad to lead my hands To all who are in need. Help me to relieve their pain, And may they soon be freed. I offer You my thanks, dear God For all You've done for me. Hear my prayers and raise me up To closer with You be. In Jesus Name I Pray...Amen.
