Neil Patrick Ryan

Neil Patrick Ryan, 36, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on December 10, 2020, in Anniston, AL, where he had recently moved. Neil was born on November 20, 1984, to Jon Patrick Ryan and Judith Mary O’Leary Ryan. He is preceded in death by his mother.

Neil was a graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He earned an Associate Degree in Welding from Lawson State Community College and served in the U.S. Navy as a Fire Control Technician.

Neil was a very loving person with a gentle spirit and great sense of humor. He loved literature, art and being creative with his hands. He was a true friend and had a very generous nature. He loved animals, especially his beloved pets.

Neil is survived by his parents, Jon and Nancy Ryan, brother, Randall (Vanessa) Ryan, sister, Valerie (Ryan) Matson, nieces, Serena Ryan and Libby Matson, nephew, Jake Matson, fiancé, Ashley French, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

A funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, December 17, 2020, 11 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 980 Huffman Rd., Birmingham, AL 35215, followed by burial at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Pinson. Visitation will take place in the church prior to the funeral service, 10-11 am. Rev. Douglas M. Vu will be the Celebrant. Social distancing and masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Ridout’s Trussville Chapel.
