Mary Ann had an infectious laugh, a zest for life, and a quick-wit that kept everyone honest. She never met a stranger and had a way with words that made everyone feel exceptional. She was a masterful storyteller and had the most wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed here, but we imagine that she is working the room in heaven.
She was born August 30, 1931 to Catherine and Samuel Corona. She attended Phillips High School in Birmingham. On October 26, 1949, she married the love of her life, Joseph Vetrano, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in East Thomas. She had one son and (surprise) twin daughters. While raising their young family, she and Joe owned Victory Record Service. They were founding members of The Roma Club and part of many Italian bowling leagues at Bowl-O-Mac. For over two decades, she was able to highlight her extraordinary attention to detail as the office manager for several ENT physicians including the renowned, Dr. John W. Harris.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church for over 50 years, serving as a volunteer and lector. Her hobbies became a lifestyle -- playing Continental Gin with her friends every Monday and reading voraciously. She stayed active through her children and grandchildren's lives and adventures.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph, her brother, Morris Corona (Ann), and her parents.
She is survived by her children, E.J. Vetrano (Dianne), Kathy Gilbert (Greg), and Rosalee Madonia (Frank), her grandchildren Joseph Gilbert (Tammy), Jennifer Gilbert, Dana Madonia LeTourneau (Scott), Mary Anne Madonia, and Nena Madonia Oshman (Andrew), and eight beautiful great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and all of the wonderful staff at Aspire Cahaba.
The Visitation, Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hoover starting at 10:00 a.m. on May 16, 2022 followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsridoutselmwoodchapel.com for the Vetrano family.
