Lois Blackwell

Lois Turner Blackwell, 95, a resident of St. Martin's in the Pines, Birmingham, passed away on May 29, 2021. Lois was born and raised in Enid Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Frank L. Turner and the late Garda Muns Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Earl Blackwell, and her brothers, Frank L. Turner Jr. and Eldon Muns Turner. Lois found great joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters June Mays(Joe) of Birmingham, Jeannine Blackwell(Michael Jones) of Lexington Kentucky, and Judith Anne Goodwin(Greg), of Augusta Georgia, by her four grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Mays, Elizabeth Upchurch, McNeill Upchurch III(Mac) and Mason Upchurch, nieces, and nephews. Lois was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church. She lived in Spartanburg County South Carolina, most of her adult life and taught school there for many years. Many Duncan Elementary fourth grade students and James F. Byrnes High School math students remember her fondly. She received a B.A. degree from Furman University and an M.ED. from Clemson University. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martin's in the Pines,4941 Montevallo road, Birmingham Al 35210.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
