Joyce Wray Lonergan of Hoover passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the age of 88. She was a proud graduate of Ensley High School. She was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church and a retired Medical Transcriptionist for a number of years. Mrs. Lonergan loved tending her roses and irises. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother of 13. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Lonergan and her 7 siblings.
She is survived by her son, Joel C. Lonergan (Terry); a daughter, Cindy L. Smith; 5 grandchildren, Kristen Jobes (Dale), Britney Deutschendorf (Lee), J. Colvin Lonergan, Jr. (Cassie), Colin Smith (Holly), and Walker Smith (Scarlett); and 13 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Elmwood Cemetery at 2 pm, Pastor Denis Tanner officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
