Jerry C. Anderson, Sr. age 84, passed away January 27, 2020. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Catherine Anderson; parents, Grafton and Argen Anderson; brothers, James Anderson and Corky Anderson. He is survived by his children, Robin Sanderson, Debra Gardner (James), and Jerry C. Anderson, Jr. (Gil Mobley); sister, Mildred Tribble (Roy) and brother Harry Anderson (Jeanne); grandchildren, Jeremy Dowdy (Jeaninne), Justin Dowdy, and Tyler Bowman; great-grandchildren, Angel Dowdy and Allie Dowdy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jerry graduated from Hueytown High School and retired from U. S. Steel. He loved Alabama football. ROLL TIDE! He was a member of the Masonic Order, Lodge #909. Jerry loved to coon hunt. And he was a long time and active member of Cottage Hills Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. And also on Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 1 pm until 2 pm. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held following at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to be made in Jerry's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
