He was born in Cullman, Alabama on January 19, 1920, to Charles D. and Maude Parker.
Preceding Jimmy in death are his parents, his sisters, Alice Parker Greathouse, and Yonnie Parker Cruce; and his brother, Charles D. Parker, Jr.
James served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Up until his retirement, he worked as an accounting auditor in the life insurance business. For the past 20 years, "Jimmy" as most knew him, had been a resident of St. Martin’s in the Pines where he spent much of his time gardening. He was known for sharing the tomatoes and flowers with anyone who wanted them.
He leaves behind many friends and family to cherish his memory.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. A graveside service will occur Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum.
