James (Jim) Alvin Foote, 84, of Hoover, Alabama passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023 after a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease and a short battle with Covid. He was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on April 11, 1939.
Jim graduated from Marion High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He then enlisted in the US Navy. After the Navy, he earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge while employed with the US Postal Services. After college, he was employed with the Social Security Administration in Birmingham, Alabama for 33 years. Jim enjoyed following and pulling for his LSU Tigers. He also enjoyed being with family, chatting, and working in the yard.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anne; daughter, Allison Dillon (husband Chad) of Hoover, Alabama; granddaughters, Hannah Dillon and Grace Dillon; brother, Carl Foote of Indianapolis, Indiana; and sister, Susan Turner of Kaufman, Texas. Jim was predeceased by his father, James Alvin Foote; mother, Lydia Bertha Weick Foote; and sister, Anna Marie Foote.
The family will greet friends at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 10 am to 11 am in the Maple Room. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation in Elmwood Cemetery.
