Elsie (Farmer) Fuqua Marshall
July 16, 1924 - December 26, 2016
Elsie (Farmer) Fuqua Marshall, 92, passed peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on December 26 in Birmingham.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Robin (Steven) Chain, her grandson, Michael (Kathryn) McMath, her brother Junior (Vicki) Farmer, sisters Hazel (Edward) Castellani, Lois Ellington, Lila Sutherland and Mary Shedd, and several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
The daughter of Pinkney and Cora Farmer and the eldest of eight children, she grew up on a farm in St. Clair County during the Great Depression and worked in a munitions factory during WWII. She married Arnold Fuqua in 1959 and, following his death, married Richard Marshall in 1984.
Elsie enjoyed traveling, volunteering with the Salvation Army, attending services at Independent Presbyterian Church, and spending time with her family. She always maintained her sense of humor and positive outlook on life.
A private burial was held on December 29 at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Comfort Care Hospice of Pelham or the Salvation Army of Birmingham.
