Doug was born on October 20, 1946, in Montevallo, Alabama. He graduated from Woodlawn High School, where he was an admired Colonel football player. He went on to graduate from Jacksonville State University.
Doug worked 30 plus years in the Birmingham, Alabama area as a sales rep for Baker’s Dairy and Dairy Fresh. He was an avid golfer, an active member of Grayson Valley Country Club and a member of the North Alabama Golf Association. He was an active member at First Baptist Church Trussville where he served faithfully as an usher. He gave many years to youth sports, coaching football and baseball for many young men over the years. Doug will be remembered as being a loving and supportive father to his daughter, Sharon and son, Scott.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Ida Mae Lowery, his father, John Douglas Lowery, and his sister Beverly Price. He is survived by his wife, Janice, daughter Sharon (Stephen), son Scott (Caroline), five granddaughters—Jordan, Julie and Jessica Long and Gretchen and Blakely Lowery. He loved his stepchildren Krista (Michael) Riosa and Allison (Danny) Finley and step-grandchildren Madeline, Michael, Abigail and Nathan. They all lovingly called him Granddaddy.
The legacy he leaves shows his great love for Jesus, his family and friends.
