Claire M. Sheehan

Claire Maddox Sheehan, age 85 of Bluff Park went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Claire worked at Shades Mountain Community Church, formerly Shades Mountain Independent Church for 44 years. In 1953 she went on a blind date only to fall in love with her sweet heart, Richard. They were married in 1955 and celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 26, 2014.

Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. Sheehan; parents, Sidney L. Maddox and Nettie Rushing Maddox. She is survived by her children, Kim Breckenridge (Joe), Lance Sheehan (Suzanne), and Randy Sheehan (Cindy); grandchildren, Todd Breckenridge, Kyle Breckenridge (Betina), Jason Sheehan (Lauren), Shaun Sheehan (Kaley), Brandon Sheehan, Rachel Releford (Trevor), and Emily Sheehan; great grandchildren, Samantha Sheehan and Mac and Beau Breckenridge, James and Declan Sheehan, Liliana Releford. She also leaves behind a host of extended family, church family, and her dear sister, Shirley McDowell.

Claire was a member of Shades Mountain Independent Church since September 14, 1975.

The family will receive friends and church family at Shades Mountain Community Church from 10:00 to 11:00 o’clock Monday, December 12, 2022 with service to follow at 11:00 o’clock with Pastor Harry Walls leading the Celebration of Life Service. Burial will take place at Birmingham's historic Elmwood Cemetery.
