Charles L. Little passed away October 24th at his home in Suwanee, Georgia at the age of 90. Most people knew him as Charlie, and those close called him “Sonny” – the name his mother called him. He was born on April 11, 1933, in Birmingham, AL and went to West End High School where he enjoyed playing tennis. He also earned money running a paper route throughout West End neighborhood. Before his graduation, he began working at Alabama Power Company in the mailroom and completed a 36-year career, retiring early in 1988. He met his true love Jane Beard at Alabama Power Company, and they were married on April 14,1956. Charlie moved to Fairfield, AL where he started his family and lived until 1987. He participated in the community where he volunteered at Glen Oaks Youth Baseball, was the Treasurer at Fairfield Highlands United Methodist Church, and on the Credit Committee with Alabama Power Company Employees Credit Union.
Charlie & Jane moved to Hoover in 1987 and found a new group to share life with at Lakeside Baptist Church, taking trips in the U.S. and overseas. They also enjoyed serving at Lakeside, where Charlie drove the church bus for trips, and provided handyman service for widows and others. He moved to Suwanee, GA with Jane in 2017 to live out the rest of their lives there. Charlie was loved by all those who knew him as gentle, easygoing, and thrifty, yet generous. He loved to laugh and invested in his family with all his heart. He loved serving the Lord and he loved Jane, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his two sons, Mike (Sharon) & Chris (Rebecca), as well as his four grandchildren, Allison, Cameron (Kristin), Garrett (Stevie) and Preston along with two great-grandchildren James (Garrett), and Jane (Cameron).
There will be a graveside service on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens beginning at 10:00 AM.
