Booker T. Dubose

As a teenage boy , Booker T. started working at Ensley Cafeteria as a cook and all around helper. Booker T. was sailor in the United States Navy and traveled all over the world, eventually becoming a Navy Seal, as a part of the Naval Combat Demolition Team (UDT). Years later he fought in the Vietnam War and returned decorated, receiving Purple Hearts and other medals for heroism. The Navy gave Booker T. the opportunity to visit many countries. After coming stateside and completing his tour of duty at port-side in San Diego, California from the battleship, Tom Green, he completed his degree in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality at the University of San Diego, where he also played football. Booker T. started to work in many restaurants: The Hilton Hotels, Holiday Inn, and Regency, are a few, even the Gulf as Chef on the oil rigs.

Booker T. had a large family leaving children, Wesley L. Robinson (Nicole) and Debythia DuBose-Jones; 6 grandchildren, Sydnee Jones, CJ Jones, Drew Jones, and Malik Robinson; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters; former wife, Sara DuBose; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 4pm – 6pm at Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel in the Celebration Chapel. He will be interred at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 1:15pm. Please arrive at the cemetery by 1pm.

We say goodbye to Daddy, Pa-Pa, and Uncle Booker T. May the LORD guide you on your heavenly journey. ~The DuBose Family

Dad

To our dad, this is a sad day for us to watch and see you unable to recover from your fight. I guess it was time to relinquish your armor and take a rest, as great warriors do. God has called you home to be with Him and a job well done. He gave us a father that showed me how to become a better and stronger man and to never quit whatever you start and to always stand up for yourself. It was because of you being tough, as a United States Navy Seal (UDT), it made me want to become an Elite soldier, Which I did, as a United States Green Beret Special Forces Soldier, just like my father. You have made my life full of happiness and joy. I’m going to miss our sit down moments and talks. When you, Malik, and me would spend all day fishing, even if nothing was caught. It was our us time, dad and grand-dad’s time. So take your place among the warriors and angels, it’s time to rest and suffer no more. We love you so much and we miss you immensely.

Daddy

Finding the words to say goodbye is really difficult for me. I have so many memories of you and me just being together that I will cherish a lifetime. As a little girl I was daddy's girl. I was always by your side. I remember waiting at the front door when you picked me up after going to grandma's house so she could watch over me until you returned. I was always so happy to see you! Then for all of the milestones of my life: graduations: from high school, undergraduate, and post graduate; walking me down the aisle on my wedding day; and finally to the day I gave you a new name PaPa- you were there for it all. Everything about you, from your imperfections, your courage, your strength, your heart, your laughter, your kindness, all of the amazing stories of your life, even when we were in agreement or agreeing to disagree, or in the midst of your stubbornness, all of these things have all created the wonderful perception of a Daddy.. MY DADDY. I pray I never stop hearing your voice or remembering your wisdom.

Dear Papa,

I miss you. I miss us playing cards together. I miss coming over to your house and I could hear the music when I walked in, my favorite was when you listen to the blues. And we would sing together sounding all off key. Haha. Now, everytime I hear one of those songs I'll think of you. I miss going to the military bases with you and you teach me and the boys about military life and the fighter jet planes. Every birthday I have won't ever be the same, because you won't be there to sing happy birthday to me.

Dear Papa,

It was so much we were supposed to do before you died. The last talk we had was about what it takes to be a great man. You left before I could get all my questions answered. Everyone who loved you is really sad you are not here anymore. I really missed those good times we had together just talking or cooking together. Remember when I made my first sweet potato pie with you? We didn't even use a fork. Haha. My final message, have fun fishing and hunting in heaven. I love you Papa
