Betty Niblett Creel, 95, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2023. She was born Tommie Elizabeth Niblett on November 6, 1927 in Trafford, Alabama. She married the love of her life Fred Brentson “Brent” Creel on April 5, 1952. Their only child, Rhonda Bea, was born on April 14, 1954. Over the years she and her family lived in Birmingham, AL; Anniston, AL and Gulf Breeze, FL. They were active in the Methodist church wherever they lived. Betty’s greatest passions were her family, God, her church, and giving to others. She loved painting, gardening and entertaining. She met challenges with great strength and faith, always cheerful and keeping a positive attitude. She was a great inspiration to her family and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Brent; parents Cynthia Elizabeth Doss and John Thomas Niblett, and brother Phillip Wendell Niblett. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Creel McClellan (David) of Birmingham, AL; granddaughter Sarah Catherine McClellan of Seattle, WA; grandson Michael Bailey McClellan (Bethany) and great-grandson Anthony Brent McClellan of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by her brothers children Phylis Brooks (Mike), Phillip Niblett Jr, Sandy Brooks (Alan), Randy Niblett ((Shelby), and Mark Niblett (Cheri) all of the Hayden area.
A Celebration of Life Visitation with friends and family will be held at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel (Maple Room Parlor) located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, Alabama 35211 from 11:00am-12:00pm followed by a short committal service at 12:00noon in Elmwood Cemetery Block#32. There will not be a funeral service. Family asked those that are willing and able to process down with them from the funeral home to the cemetery for the short committal service. Due to the heat, the family ask that no suit coats or dress jackets to be worn.
