Betty Colvert Alexander 92, of Hoover, passed away on May 2, 2021. Betty was born on September 25, 1928 to Bernice A. and John E. Colvert in Atlanta, GA. She attained a nutrition degree from the University of Alabama followed by Masters at Vanderbilt University. Betty's 35-year career began as a dietitian and educator at St. Vincent's Hospital, and continued with her consultant practice as the Registered Dietitian for many healthcare facilities. Betty met her husband Lester when he moved down the street and frequented her family home to watch one of the few TVs in town. They married in 1954, and had four children. Betty's Hoover and Lake Martin homes were full of food, fun, family, and friends. Through her life she was up for games, enjoying cards and dominoes. As a school supporter, Betty held leadership roles in the PTA and Athletic Association. She was well known for running the fundraising concession stands at events. Focused on her family, Betty's was the place where everyone was always welcome. Once an empty nester, Betty hit the road traveling the world with family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Julian Lester Alexander Jr., her parents, brothers John E. and George A. Colvert, sister Lutie Marie Colvert; Survived by her brother William Stephen Colvert, her children, Linda Marie Alexander and Semih Genculu, Donna Horn and Julian Lester Alexander, Judy Alexander Stewart, Temple Fitzpatrick and John Stephen Alexander, grandkids Leyla Alexander-Genculu, Kamran Alexander-Genculu, Noel Marie and Christopher Ryan Alexander, Brittany Burke and John Michael Alexander, Sarah Alexander and Brandon Morris Stephens, Matthew Reagan Alexander, Peyton Fitzpatrick Alexander, Hannah Allen and Clifford Hurley Alexander, Julian Watts Alexander, great grandkids, Abigail Mai Alexander, Emily Reeder Alexander, Madeline Lane Alexander, Sophia Lenn Alexander, and Fitzpatrick Hudson Alexander.
