Arley L. (Weatherman) Womack, born July 7, 1924 and passed away on April 23, 2024. She leaves her children; Marilyn (Womack) Weissgerber and husband Gary (Moody, AL), and her twins, Doreen Womack (Wichita, KS) & Lloyd Womack (Emporia, KS). She also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with two beloved sisters-in-law and loving nieces and nephews.
Arley lived a full life, spreading the love of Jesus to her family, friends and strangers. As she loved to tell everyone, "she was born in jail"! She then went on to tell them that it's because her Grandfather was the sheriff and her Father was the under-sheriff and they all lived in a home connected to the jail. She spent her childhood raised on a farm along with her older twin siblings, Frances and Bob, and a younger brother, Jimmy, who died when he was very young.
Arley and her sister left their rural life and went to business school in Kansas City. Arley ended up working for the Rural Electric Cooperative (REC) in Iola, KS as the bookkeeper until her retirement. In her early years of employment, REC would host events in local towns and communities extolling the benefits of having electricity on the farm and trying to convince the farmers that electricity would not harm their livestock. Arley met Robert Womack after he came home from WWII when his younger brother, who also worked for REC, introduced them. They married and started a family a little later in life than many of their peers, but were great partners and parents. Their happy marriage lasted almost 50 years until Robert passed away.
During the past year, Arley was cared for by the compassionate employees of Trussville Oasis Hospice Care and her wonderful sitters, Pam and Carolyn. Arley left her bedridden body and this world behind to be joyously welcomed into heaven with Jesus, family and friends that preceded her in death. AMEN!
