Ann Helen Wilensky Tepper, 86 years young passed away April 22,2024 at UAB Palliative Care. Graveside service will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM (CST) at Elmwood Cemetery, 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Birmingham, Alabama.
Ann was born and raised in Columbus, Ga and graduated from Columbus High School. She attended The University of Alabama where she was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority and crowned sweetheart of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity in 1958.
Ann started her secretarial career at CBS News in New York City, working for Walter Cronkite. The charm of her southern accent was an instant hit. Her dedication to hard work and her ability to type 100 words per minute furthered her career. She relocated to Atlanta, GA where Ann worked several jobs before obtaining the Executive Secretary position at Rhodes Furniture, which she held for 23 years. After leaving Rhodes, Ann and her partner owned and operated a Mail Boxes Etc. store in Marietta, GA for several years. Her journey then continued to South Carolina where she worked part-time for many more years until retiring at the age of 82.
Ann loved her family and friends dearly. She especially loved being “grandma” to her grandchildren as well as their friends and many others in the community. Her generosity and her love had no bounds. She is a source of inspiration of strength and kindness for those who knew her.
Survivors include her daughters Alice Tepper, Mountain Brook, AL, Dale Tepper, Atlanta, GA, Patti Hirsberg (Terry), Mountain Brook, AL; Grandsons Sam Hirsberg, Memphis, TN, Cody Hirsberg, Wilmington, NC, Destin Hirsberg, Mountain Brook, AL; Brothers Jack Wilensky (Pat), Columbus, GA, Frank Wilensky (Barbara), Atlanta, GA
She is preceded in death by her partner Ronald Cohen; Parents Joseph and Gertrude Wilensky.
