Russell “Russ” Jones, a native of Miami, Florida, was born to Arthur Frank Jones and Kathleen Morgan Jones on November 17, 1944, and died in his sleep in Beverly Hills, Florida, on April 22, 2024. He is survived by his brother Wayne H. Jones; sons Russell M. Jones Jr. (Laura) and Scott S. Jones (Jennifer) and their children, and by brother-in-law James Dease (Anne) and family.
Russ attended Miami-Dade Community College and part time at the University of Miami and was a licensed pilot. He was also in sales throughout his adult life, beginning at the Caterpillar Depot in Hialeah, moving on to insurance at Searle & Morris in Coral Gables, then with Olivetti and several other office equipment manufacturers, and finally with Kelly Tractor Company. Upon moving to Citrus County, Florida in 1998, he returned to insurance sales as an independent agent until retiring in 2007.
In keeping with Russ’ wishes, no formal services are planned. Cremation is under the auspices of Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center, Beverly Hills, Florida. If you wish to honor Russ’ memory, a contribution may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Wounded Warrior Project or to the charity of your choice.
